Merge into Buick Skylark

[edit]

I am proposing this article be merged into Buick Skylark due to the similarities between the two models. The Somerset is just the two door version of the 1986-91 generation model, which was merged back into the Skylark line for 1988. So both articles are effectively covering the same vehicle, not to mention how this article is a stub that doesn't contain enough unique information that isn't already covered in the Skylark article. I agree. It's reasonable to look at the Somerset as a brief offshoot/re-name within an otherwise-unbroken Skylark lineage. It's essentially the same car on the same platform sold by the same division. Since it fits cleanly into the Skylark's model history I think this is a case where merging makes sense. I can agree on the Buick Somerset issue, but I have a bit of a different proposal to address things, though. In place of merging this page into the main Buick Skylark article, perhaps renaming it to Buick Skylark (1986-1991) (or something similar) could work out better (with the Buick Somerset content as a subsection). The Buick Skylark article is one that can have sub-articles, if done right. --SteveCof00 (talk) 10:31, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't appear that there's enough content in the 1986-1991 section to warrant splitting it off. - Olds 403 (talk) 02:41, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I also agree that there is not enough content to warrant splitting it off, not to mention that in that generation, the Skylark was a badge-engineered version of the Pontiac Grand Am and Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais. I'm sticking with my suggestion that this article be merged into that section of the Skylark article. Reattacollector (talk) 11:38, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. I think we should merge the articles because they are similar to each other.
